Mapping

The book Infinite City: A San Francisco Atlas visually juxtaposes data on the same maps in order to  provoke thoughts and questions about San Francisco’s most pressing issues. In this book, Solnit maps “Tribes of San Francisco,” “Poison” against “Palate,” “Death” against “Beauty,” and several other social and historical facts that are typically never visually catalogued together on maps.

If we were to create a map, how could the map function as a diagram for our data?

Do you think that such maps imply a direct relationship between two variables without taking into consideration other factors? If so, do you believe that these maps are misleading?
